Karnivool's debut album Themata was released to critical acclaim in February 2005 and marked one of the most highly anticipated releases for an independent band.  The album was more than 3 years in the making and captured a perfect blend of both melodic beauty and spine-bending rock which appealed to anyone who desired a truly unique sound.  It provided a combination of hard guitar licks and explosive drums with rhythmic, melodic interludes and sound effects.

Shortly after the release of Themata, they toured with Cog on the Homeland Security Tour and played to an audience eager to listen to heavy Australian rock music and seldom did they disappoint.   In supporting Cog and impressing the right audiences, they provided themselves with the perfect platform to launch into the industry.

Since then Karnivool have toured Australia extensively on their own headline tours as well as playing alongside Skindred, Nonpoint and Ankla on the Great American Rampage Tour in North America in late 2007 as well as playing all 5 cities of Big Day Out in early 2008.  During April/May 2008 they toured Australia with special guest That 1 Guy before hitting the summer festival circuit once again in 2008/09 playing Pyramid Rock Festival, Southbound and Homebake.

Karnivool's sophomore album, one of the year's most anticipated Australian releases, will be released in May 2009.
