A&R in Belgium

A&R stands for "Artists and Repertoire". It is the primary role of the A&R department to scout for writers, songs and catalogues. In addition, the A&R department is responsible for the exploitation of musical works already controlled by the company. This involves liasing with artists, their managers and record companies.

"Demos" are demonstration CD's, dats or tapes and are one way for an unsigned songwriter to introduce his or her songs to a publisher.
