Licensing in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is one of variable market with different kind of licensing activities in South East Asia. Apart from usual commercial and film synchronization, audio-visual products synchronization is also significant. In addition, many new technology, contents and services are being developed rapidly in the New Media market. Whereas China is still needed to be developed, that people can only accept a lower licence fee for both synchronization and mechanical right for the time being.
In both Hong Kong and China, there is a different audio-visual product exist which doesn't exist in the European market - VCD (Visual Compact Disc). The VCD visual quality is not as good as DVD, but the retail price is much cheaper. Therefore, VCD is always popular in both markets.
