The husband-and-wife songwriting team of Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil started out as staff writers in New York's legendary Brill Building. Together they wrote some of the most memorable songs of the 1960's and 1970's including WE GOTTA GET OUT OF THIS PLACE (originally recorded by Barry himself and very successfully covered by The Animals in 1965), WALKING IN THE RAIN (which charted first for The Ronettes in 1964 and then by Jay & The Americans six years later) and the Dolly Parton country crossover smash of 1978, HERE YOU COME AGAIN.

Most spectacularly of all, Barry & Cynthia collaborated with producer Phil Spector on what BMI has designated as the most performed song in their history: YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVIN' FEELIN'. Initially a hit for The Righteous Brothers in 1965, BMI confirms that it has logged up an astonishing ten million performances and is still going strong!

Mann & Weil also teamed up with Leiber & Stoller to create ON BROADWAY which gave The Drifters a Top Ten smash in '63 and was equally successful when revived in '78 by George Benson.

Barry wrote hits with other co-writers such as Larry Kolber (I LOVE HOW YOU LOVE ME by The Paris Sisters in '61), Leo Sayer (HOW MUCH LOVE by Leo himself in '77) and with Gerry Goffin on Barry's own novelty smash WHO PUT THE BOMP which brilliantly parodied doo-wop lyrics back in 1961 while Cynthia contributed lyrics to hits by other tunesmiths such as Tom Snow with whom she wrote HE'S SO SHY, The Pointer Sisters' smash of 1980.

There is always room for a new cover of an old song. With this in mind, we invite you to check thru the following alphabetical line-up of proven Screen Gems chart hits created by Barry & Cynthia together or with other co-writers.
