| Texas-born singer/songwriter/guitarist Buck Owens moved to California and created the Bakersfield sound with its identifiable twangy, honky-tonk style. He was a Capitol recording artist for over 15 years during which time he logged up 20 #1 hits including the EMI-published TOGETHER AGAIN; released as a single in '64, Buck's own version emphasized its simple yet haunting lyric: "Together again, my tears have stopped falling/The long lonely nights are now at an end". A year later, Ray Charles cut the song on his "Country & Western Meets Rhythm & Blues" LP and then in '76, Emmylou Harris revived it and took it back to the top of the Billboard country singles chart.
Among other Buck Owens ballads we publish are FOOLIN' 'ROUND (co-written with Harlan Howard, it was the 6th of Buck's own 45's issued in 1960 and covered soon afterwards for the pop market by fellow Capitol artist, Kay Starr) and UNDER YOUR SPELL AGAIN - another of Buck's early singles on which he was given a run for his money from a competing version by Ray Price on Columbia.
Buck Owens passed away in March 2006.
