| Grammy award winning and Oscar nominated Writer/Producer Clif Magness' career includes over two decades worth of hits; 2002 brought Clif's career to new heights - 2003 is sure to be his best yet.
Clif was instrumental in developing perhaps the biggest breakout artist of the year, AVRIL LAVIGNE. Being among the first writer/producers to work with Avril, Clif's writing and production style became the benchmark for the album. Clif co-wrote and produced the current, much edgier, AVRIL LAVIGNE single "Losing Grip," as well as 5 other tracks from her multi-platinum debut "Let Go." "Losing Grip" shows a much more rock side of the album and is Avril¹s personal favorite track. Her performance of the song at the Juno Awards was said to be one of the highlights of the show. "Losing Grip" is getting more than 2100 spins a week and is currently at #29 on the Top Forty chart and #14 on MTV's rotation. He finished the project with six productions and five co-writes on the multi-platinum debut entitled, "LET GO."
With the success of AVRIL LAVIGNE, Clif has continued to break new ground writing and producing a whole new group of young superstars including CHERIE AMORE, JESSICA SIMPSON, CHARLOTTE MARTIN, O-TOWN and a heartfelt single for RACHEL LOY (of Mass Ave), entitled "The Same Man (for Matthew), which will be released on Epic Records in May. Also, KELLY CLARKSON's #1 album debut "Thankful" features 2 productions by Clif. Additionally, Clif and songwriter Steve Kipner are developing their own female group, Mass Ave. for Epic Records.
Clif also co-wrote the first single "Lights Out," with LISA MARIE PRESLEY from her debut album "To Whom It May Concern." The single is currently at #42 at Top Forty, #34 at Hot AC and at #4 on VH1's rotation. The album was released April 8th.
Clif's string of hit singles and records began in the 1980s when he had a #1 hit with Jack Wagner ("All I Need") and a top 5 with Wilson Phillips ("Impulsive"). In 1990 Clif took home a Grammy for the song "The Places You Find Love" from Quincy Jones' critically acclaimed album "Back On The Block." Just three years later, in 1993, Clif was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for the song "The Day I Fall In Love" from the film "Beethoven's 2nd". Throughout the 1990s and in to 2000, Clif continued to work with outstanding artists such as CELINE DION, HANSON, AMY GRANT, JUDE, and THE URGE. |
