Dominique A is a French author-composer-singer. He released his first album "La Fossette" in 1992, which was followed by a big French tour. A year later, he published his second opus "Si Je Connais Harry", and then "La Mémoire Neuve" in 1995. The latter was a big success with both the audience and the music critiques, and sold more than 100.000 copies. After another long tour, Dominique A concentrated on writing for the female artist Françoise Breut's album, and collaborated with Yann Tiersen, the composer of the famous Amélie Poulain soundtrack. In autumn 1998, he went back to the studio and then released "Remué" in 1999, which was followed by "Auguri". In September 2002, he published "The Dominique Ø Project", which was the result of collaboration with Oslø Telescopic. After the release of a Best-of album ("Le Détour"), he released, in early 2004, "Tout Sera Comme Avant": both his sixth album and a collection of short stories.
In 2004, releasing of a DVD “live” called “Solo Aux Bouffes Du Nord”. In 2006, Dominique A changes of record label but he realizes a new luxurious seventh album, L'Horizon, which is an atmospheric offering that stands out from the current crop of new releases. Prioritizing ambience over melody and exploring new sources of inspiration other than songs about everyday life, the French minimalist makes full use of his artistic freedom. |
