| One of the forefathers of rock'n'roll, Antoine 'Fats' Domino began writing and recording hit songs in 1949 when he teamed up with fellow New Orleans musician, Dave Bartholomew. THE FAT MAN was the song that started it all and introduced the world to Fats's band of boogie woogie-based rhythm and blues, together with his infectious creole-tinged vocals.
There is something instantly and continuously contagious about the Fats Domino sound which wove its way thru the 1950's and 1960's via million-selling hits such as AIN'T THAT A SHAME (covered at the time by Pat Boone and successfully revived in '72 as a country charter by Hank Williams, Jr.), BLUE MONDAY, I'M IN LOVE AGAIN, I'M WALKIN' and WHOLE LOTTA LOVING.
Fats has also remained true to his roots and still lives in the New Orleans district in which he was born; it is therefore no wonder that he wrote (with Bobby Charles and Dave Bartholomew) one of the Crescent City's anthems: WALKIN' TO NEW ORLEANS.
