Graham
began his early career in the music industry as Whitfield Street Studios
(formerly CBS Studios) in the late 70’s. After a period of training as an
assistant, he was promoted to staff engineer and was soon attracting clients
such as A&R supreme Muff Windwood.
It
was during this period that Graham started working alongside legendary producer
Gus Dudgeon, an association which was to last some six years, and included
engineering and mixing credits for:-
Elkie
Brooks
- Two albums - Pearls 1&2 - Both UK number ones. Sir
Elton John -
Three albums - Ice On Fire, Leather Jackets and Live in Melbourne (with the
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra).
Amongst
the many other Artists that Graham and Gus worked on together were:- Stephen Bishop, Squeeze, Johnny
Bristol, and John
Miles.
During
the mid to late eighties, Graham teamed up with famed New
York Remixer/ GoGo producer John Morales, and became part of the
UK arm of M&M Mixes. Together they were
responsible for may UK single and dance hits for- Harold Faltermyer (Axel F.- Beverly
Hills Cop)- Frankie Beverly and Maze
(Back In Stride, Silly Games)- Five
Star (All Fall Down, System Addict)- The Winans (Let My People Go) Ready For The World (Oh
Sheilla).
Other
Artists that Graham has worked with include - Curtis Mayfield, The Drifters, Dan Hartman, The Blow
Monkeys, Imagination, Oliver Cheatham, Phil Fearon and Galaxy, The Waterboys,
Claudio Baglioni (Italian multi-platinum artist), Lulu, Drizabone, Sly and Robbie, Supercat,
Alexander O’neal, Julia Fordham, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Peter Andre,
Mikey Graham (Boyzone), Alison
Moyet, Lynden David Hall, and Brian Harvey (East 17).
Another
long association that started in the late eighties and still stands to this day,
is with singer song-writer Joan
Armatrading. Working on five of Joan’s albums, including a live 5.1 DVD and
Album (2004), together with the 2003 studio Album (recorded and mixed at G2
Music studio)- Lovers Speak.
Furthering
his love of Reggae music, Graham mixed the 1994 worldwide smash Sweets For My Sweet by C.J Lewis. What followed
was a period spent in Jamaica, producing albums for Jack Raddics (Sony) and President Brown (Island Jamaica). Approached by the world
renowned Steel Pulse, Graham went on
to produce two Grammy Nominated albums for them (Rage and
Fury in 1997 and Rasta Centennial 1999), and has recently mixed their latest
Album – African Holocaust –
featuring Damien Marley and Capleton, which is currently riding
high in Reggae charts worldwide.
Graham
and long standing writing/production partner Grant Mitchell formed G2 Music in 1999, based at their state
of the art studio in West London. Signing to EMI Music in 2001, they have since co-
written songs for Sonique (million
selling debut album), Robin Gibb
(Bee Gees) and Bob The Builder (five
songs) amongst others. Graham and Grant were responsible for the Bob The Builder album which was not
only a success worldwide, but also included the two UK
number one singles – Can We Fix it? (best selling single of 2001) and Mambo No. 5. They went on to produce and arrange
the Bob The Builder album,
(released worldwide) co-writing five of the songs.
Graham
& Grant have been working a wide range of projects, including writing and
developing R&B /Pop band Frixion
and virtual pop act The Glitter
Monkeys. He has also worked in various TV/Film projects for Channel 5, The Disney Channel and BBC Worldwide (Dick n Dom). They
recently completed recording and mixing a new Joan Armatrading album and have
written the theme music to the Little
Princess for Illuminated Films. |
