| Since he was ten years old, Lester Mendez has been writing music.
Recently pursued by Clive Davis, Mendez has been working with legendary rock and roll artist Carlos Santana on his latest album, SHAMAN. Mendez has co-written and produced a song with Dallas Austin and Grammy-winner Macy Gray called "Amore" featured on Santana's new LP. "Amore" was such a smash that Clive personally asked Mendez to produce additional Santana tracks with artists such as Seal and Nickelback.
2002 was a stellar year for Mendez, and it’s only the beginning. Current hits written and produced by Mendez include “Objection (Tango)” and “Underneath Your Clothes”, the latest two singles on Shakira’s highly-acclaimed English language debut album LAUNDRY SERVICE which skyrocketed to #3 in it’s first week of release. "Underneath Your Clothes" has seen international success on nearly every continent, and both songs are featured on Shakira's album in both English and in Spanish. Mendez not only co-wrote many songs on that album, he also produced a large part of it. Previously, Mendez produced five songs on Shakira’s award-winning album DONDE ESTAN LOS LADRONES, including “Octavo Dia” which he co-wrote with her.
Lester produced the majority of Enrique Iglesias’ latest Spanish album, QUIZAS, which went straight to the top of the Latin charts. Mendez and Iglesias have a history together co-writing such songs as “You’re My Number One” and “If The World Crashes Down”, featured on the Interscope superstar's multiplatinum English releases ENRIQUE and ESCAPE. Lester also produced Enrique Iglesias’ single “Sad Eyes” (written by Bruce Springstein).
Mendez has an amazing sound bank. His programming, arranging and remixing credits include artists such as: Jimmy Page, David Byrne, Ricky Martin, Spice Girls, Chris de Burgh, Johnny Mathis, Will Smith, Collective Soul, Jennifer Lopez, Grace Jones, PM Dawn, Bee Gees, Pet Shop Boys, and Angelique Kidjo – the latter is the biggest selling African pop artist. |
