Nick Laird-Clowes is an innovative musician and composer. In recent years he has worked on a number of film soundtracks, including scoring the films Invisible Circus, directed by Adam Brooks and Fierce People, directed by Griffin Dunne. Nick’s latest score features on Nick Broomfield’s hard-hitting film Battle For Haditha - premiered at this years London Film Festival (2007).

Nick has worked on several films as a musical consultant including The Dreamers, directed by Bernardo Bertolucci and is currently working on Hippie Hippie Shake (2008) directed by Beeban Kidron.

Nick is primarily a songwriter and has been part of the UK music scene since the late 70s. He was lead singer/principal songwriter for the band The Dream Academy who’s 1985 single Life in a Northern Town gave them an international hit. The song was co-produced with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, a collaboration which has continued, most notably on Pink Floyd's 1994 album The Division Bell, on which Nick co-wrote two songs. The Dream Academy released three albums and toured extensively.

Nick has continued to write music for various projects and his solo album Mona Lisa Overdrive was released under the name Trashmonk in 1999; he is currently finishing a second solo album due for release in 2008  on his own label. He has also worked and written with Brian Wilson and in 1998 Nick was given a fellowship to study film composition at Sundance – leading into his current work in film soundtracks and music consultancy.
