Salem Al Fakir is the biggest debut artist for many years in Sweden and one of the most promising artists and writers we've seen for a long time, which he proved at the 2007 Swedish Grammys when he cleaned up by winning the awards for Best New Artist, Best Male Artist, Best Producer and Songwriter Of The Year.
Salem is number four out of six brothers and sisters in the al Fakir family. He grew up in Huddinge, a suburb to Stockholm, with a mum from Sweden and a dad from Damaskus. He forced the two of them to pay for his first violin lessons when he was four years old and at about the same age he started to play around with the family piano. And so the story begins...
His debut album This Is Who I Am was released in January 2007, went straight in at # 1 and stayed at the charts for over a year.
On the album, Salem plays all the instruments and the album is written, produced, arranged and mixed by Salem at his home studio.
