| "My uncle took me to see Marvin Gaye in concert when I was a young child and after that I knew what I wanted to do with my life." This may explain how one of the most talented and versatile songwriters and record producers has come to be. STORM began writing songs at the age of 6 by sitting at the family piano and setting his poetry to music. After High School he began to work professionally as a singer and songwriter. He had the good fortune of being mentored by legendary Motown songwriter and record producer Norman Whitfield. Norman took a special interest in STORM and nurtured his raw talent. He helped STORM refine his gifts and taught him the craft of songwriting. STORM is passionate about writing great songs.
"As soon as I hear music... a melody, a bass line or sit at a piano I get excited. The beauty of the song is a hot melody." STORM's melody writing seems other worldly at times and has a fresh spirit that transcends even language. "If you are from another country and don't speak English you'll feel something. You'll feel my lyric through my melody." Many artists and writers are really feeling STORM right now. He has written for and cut songs with MYA (Interscope), Jordan Knight (Interscope), MONICA (J Records artist for the MTV television movie "Love Songs"), N'Sync (Jive) and several new artists including Robin Thicke (Nu America/Interscope) and A&M Records hot urban teen act METRO. Coming soon is a collaboration with producer Greg Pagani.
As a producer, "Vocals are the most important thing." He is a perfectionist. He wants to capture the soul of the artist on tape. "I want to paint a picture that even the artist may not see and get magic on tape."
STORM has been writing with Robin Thicke for Usher, Janet Jackson, and Faith Evans. He also has a song on the SWAT soundtrack.'' STORM is on his path and the future holds no barriers for him. Now is his time!
The song "Dot Com" is a bonus track from the USHER DVD "Rhythm City: Volume 1 Caught Up" released as a single, currently charting at #61 on Billboard's R&B/HIP-HOP Songs Chart. |
