Terence Dudley
|
| A native of Jamaica, New York and living a virtually sheltered and disciplined life as a child, Grammy nominated producer, Terence Dudley turned to music as an outlet. Dudley recalls that his aunt's ever so stimulating style of babysitting was to listen to countless albums on the record player. Before he could walk, he was able to select his favorite songs, just by looking at the album labels.
Dudley credits his diversity and solid foundation from years of exposure to various genres of music ranging from the classical greats such as Beethoven, Bach and Chopin; to the broad range of Funk, Pop and Soul inspirations such as Parliament, Stevie Wonder and all of Motown, to name a few. It wasn't long that Dudley would take the reigns and become an instrumentalist himself. Throughout his years in grade school and high school, he became proficient at a bevy of instruments including saxophone, drums, guitar, bass and keyboards.
Dudley decided to take his love of music to new heights. He realized that his vision of becoming a producer must start with songwriting. His big break came when he wrote a song entitled, "Love Games" for a group called Sweet Sensation, on Atco/Atlantic Records. A year later, Dudley was signed as a staff producer for First Priority Records, where he produced and remixed songs for artists like M.C. Lyte, Audio 2, Kings of Swing and more.
Quickly, Terence Dudley's pivotal musical success came when he found himself in cahoots with Sean "P Diddy" Combs, who selected Dudley's M.C. Lyte recorded song, "Stop, Look And Listen (Remix)" as the sample in Mary J. Blige's hit, "Reminisce". Gaining respect from his peers as a notable producer, Dudley was sought out by Al B. Sure to produce "Party 2 Nite", for Ladae (Absolute/Motown Records).
Creating great music was inevitable when Dudley partnered with "Buttnaked" Tim Dawg to produce and remix songs for every artist on the Island Records' label. Together, they developed the ability to bring a blend of the right elements and created the hit song, "Tell Me (Bounce Remix)" for artist, Dru Hill. His list of credits also includes Mona Lisa, The Isley Brothers, K.C. and Jo Jo, The Lost Boys and Mr. Cheeks, to name a few.
Dudley's talent and innovative style lead him to produce the groundbreaking hit song, "Ya Life's On The Line" for 50 Cent. The success of this single sparked the interest of Senior Vice President, Big Jon Platt of EMI Music Publishing and landed Dudley a publishing deal.
Dudley has garnered tremendous success in the international markets. He has had a number of international hits such as, "Don't You Love Me", by artist, Eternal and Usher's U.K. hit, entitled, "Confessions (Remix)" to name a few.
Recently, Terence produced a song featured on 50 Cent's video game, Bulletproof. He also created and co-produced music with Al B Sure! for a Slim Trax Weight Loss national radio commercial. Other projects that Terence is working on include producing a song for the upcoming K Ci (from Jodeci) solo project; producing songs for the well-known U.K. artist, Michelle Gayle and producing music for T.V. and Film.
Throughout his career, Terence Dudley has been involved with projects that have collectively grossed over 30 million in record sales. Staying true to his diverse musical background, Terence is poised to continue to bring an innovative flair to not only today's Hip Hop and R&B culture, but to the world. Whether in New York, Los Angeles or London, Terence Dudley gets the job done. |
