BIG BAND THEME TUNES

Back in the swing era, each and every big band had a theme song. Some tunes were so popular that they took on lives of their own, giving birth to melodies which followed in the same tradition or subject matter. Stan Kenton's "Artistry In Rhythm" was followed by an adaptation called "Artistry Jumps" and the character in Cab Calloway's "Minnie The Moocher" lyric took on a life of 'her' own in songs such as "Minnie The Moocher's Wedding Day"!
